Obiettivi formativi
- Far comprendere le caratteristiche delle “strutture a rete” che caratterizzano moltissimi aspetti del mondo in cui viviamo, dalle reti telefoniche a Internet alle reti sociali
- Fornire le conoscenze di base dei sistemi di telecomunicazione, propedeutiche ad un consapevole ed efficace utilizzo dei nuovi strumenti e delle nuove modalità per la “comunicazione mediata dalle reti”.
- Sviluppare negli studenti capacità di orientamento e valutazione sulle tecnologie, sull’ecosistema economico/industriale, sulla dimensione mondiale delle telecomunicazioni, con attenzione al profilo storico, regolamentare, scientifico
- Provide basic knowledge of the 'network structure' and of telecommunication systems, preparatory to a conscious and effective use of new tools and new ways to " network-mediated communication".
- Impart to students knowledge and understanding about the evolution of fixed and mobile networks, the Internet and broadband and ultra-broadband networks.
- Develop students' assessment capacity for the ICT technology and the economic/industrial telecommunications ecosystem, with a focus on historical, regulatory, and scientific aspects

Al termine dell’insegnamento gli studenti dovranno essere in grado di:
- dimostrare di conoscere le proprietà chiave delle reti e le potenzialità dell’ “agire in rete”, nonché i principi di base dei sistemi di telecomunicazione
- aver acquisito capacità di orientamento ed autonomia di approfondimento nelle principali tematiche tecnico/sistemistiche inerenti l’evoluzione dell’Information&Communication Technology - ICT
- applicare le conoscenze apprese all’analisi di scenari di utilizzo delle reti, rilevanti per ambiti applicativi delle Scienze della Comunicazione
At the Course end students should be able to:
- exhibit knowledge of the basic principles of networks and telecommunications
- show evaluation skills and autonomous research&understanding ability in main issues related to the evolution of Information & Communication Technology
- apply the acquired knowledge to the analysis of network usage scenarios, relevant for Communication Sciences

Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento
Esame orale (votazione espressa in trentesimi), preceduto da Test scritto che dovrà essere superato per accedere all'orale; gli studenti devono dar prova di aver studiato e assimilato quanto presentato nelle lezioni, basandosi sulle slide e sul materiale integrativo che verrà indicato durante l'Insegnamento (eventuali studenti non-frequentanti dovranno dar prova di avere studiato e assimilato anche i contenuti di specifici testi ulteriori, come indicato in bibliografia). Gli studenti dovranno inoltre mostrare di aver acquisito capacità di orientamento, analisi ed autonomo approfondimento sulle principali tematiche dell'ICT
Face-to-Face interview (vote expressed in thirty); a written Test will enable the access to the interview; students must demonstrate that they have studied and assimilated what was presented in Lessons, based on the Slide and supplementary material that will be recommended during the course (non-attending students will have to prove that they have also studied and assimilated the contents of specific additional texts, as indicated in the bibliography). Students will also have to show that they have acquired analysis skills and autonomous insight in main ICT issues

- Un mondo di Reti: stradali, ferroviarie, elettriche, idriche, postali, commerciali, finanziarie, reti di telecomunicazione, reti sociali, reti semantiche, bio-ecosistemi, …
- Le caratteristiche chiave di una “Rete”: nodi, connessioni, complessità, auto-organizzazione
- Capire le Reti: “piccoli mondi”, HUB, gruppi, fitness, proprietà “emergenti”; come le reti nascono, crescono, si trasformano
- Reti in Funzione / Vivere in Rete: Presenza Web, Cybersecurity. Come le reti “trasportano cose (materiali o immateriali)”, es. beni, energia, bit, informazioni,
